The people of Israel are still unsatisfied with how their lives look, so they ask for a king. Once again, they don’t trust God to provide for them. The prophet Samuel warns them of the dangers of their request, but the Lord allows them to choose their form of government. They’re given what they ask for in Saul. In the beginning, Saul actually starts out his time in leadership serving the Lord, but he soon loses trust in God and tries to do things his own way.
