DayDay 5: The Blood That Speaks a Better Word
Reading: Hebrews 12:24
“You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.”
Jesus’ blood speaks a better word than Abel’s. Abel’s blood cried out for justice; Jesus’ blood declares, “Justice has been satisfied.” Abel was an innocent man killed by a sinner; Jesus, the only truly innocent one, willingly gave His life for sinners.
The cross is where God fulfilled His promise to take upon Himself the penalty for sin. Through faith, we enter this covenant—not by our works, but by trusting in what Jesus has done.
Reflection:
- How does understanding Jesus’ sacrifice change your view of grace?
- In what ways can you live in gratitude for the covenant Jesus secured for you?
Prayer Prompt:
Thank Jesus for being the final sacrifice. Ask Him to help you live a life that reflects His grace and forgiveness to others.
Memory Verse: Romans 3:23—for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
