4th Week – Day 2: God’s Covenant with Abraham\

Reading: Genesis 15:5–6, 17–18

And he believed the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness… On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abram.”

God does not abandon us to our sin. Instead, He initiates a way for us to be reconciled to Him—through covenant. With Abraham, God made a radical promise: He alone walked through the sacrificed animals, declaring that He would take the penalty for any covenant-breaking.

This act foreshadowed Christ. Just as Abraham’s faith was counted as righteousness, we, too, are made right with God through faith, not by our own efforts.

Reflection:

  • How does the idea of covenant deepen your understanding of God’s commitment to you?
  • What does it mean for you to trust God as Abraham did?

Prayer Prompt:

Thank God for His faithfulness and for making a way for you to be in relationship with Him. Ask for a heart that trusts Him completely.

Memory Verse: Romans 3:23—for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
