4th Week – Day 1: The Problem of Sin
Reading: Genesis 4:8–12
“Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him… ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground.’”
Sin is not just an individual act; it fractures our relationship with God and others. Cain’s story illustrates the depth of the human heart’s corruption. Instead of repenting, Cain only complains about his punishment. His lack of remorse highlights the reality of a heart distant from God.
Sin does more than hurt us—it leaves us spiritually adrift. When we reject God, it’s as if He says, “All right then, have it your way.” Without Him, we become like a ship without a captain, lost and directionless.
Reflection:
- How do you see sin’s destructive effects in your own life and the world?
- What areas of your heart do you need to bring before God in repentance?
Prayer Prompt:
Ask God to reveal any unrepentant sin in your life. Pray for a heart that is tender to His conviction and eager to turn toward Him.
Memory Verse: Romans 3:23—for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
