overflow-final21 Days of Ask, Listen & Worship is a time where we seek to know the Lord better in every way imaginable.  While we meet with Him face to face each day we will experience the overflow of His presence. For almost two decades we have set aside each January to faithfully seek God as we ask, listen and worship.  It is through these spiritual disciplines that we trust in His power alone to create lasting impact in our lives, our church, and our world.

Come experience the overflow of God’s presence in your life as we ask, listen & worship!

“Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7

cpcmissions2016

As a church, we are celebrating 50 years of missions.  Fifty years dedicated to sending people to reach the end of the earth for God’s glory and embedded into the DNA of Cross Points Church.  A glimpse of our Sanctuary, with the flags of the nations we have sent to and visited, reflects that identity.

The week of missions is a celebration of those 50 years; what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will do around the world.  The great news about the God we serve, is
He uses us as a part of His plan, and He can use us as well.  That is worth celebrating.

I _3 my Church

It’s not uncommon to hear “I love football” or “I love ice cream” or “I love the Royals”, but when someone says “I love my church” people think it’s weird.  There’s more to loving the church than showing up on an occasional Sunday morning, smiling, and singing.

The Bible gives rich insight into how to live out your love for God’s local church.

 Join us as we learn what the Church is and why it matters.

Sermon Notes – What If The Church: Foster Care May 26, 2016

What if the Church

  1. All Orphans Have a Father

Psalm 68:5-6 NLT

5 Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—

   this is God, whose dwelling is holy.

6 God places the lonely in families;

   he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.

God is the great protector and loving Father of all orphans.

  1. All Orphans Deserve Justice:

Psalm 10:14 NLT

But you see the trouble and grief they cause.

   You take note of it and punish them.

The helpless put their trust in you.

   You defend the orphans.

Deuteronomy 10:17-18 NLT

17 “For the Lord your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality and cannot be bribed. 18 He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and clothing.

Justice is a fundamental part of God’s character.

Justice: Righting the wrongs that sin causes.

Deuteronomy 10:18 NLT

18 He ensures that orphans and widows receive justice.

  1. The People of God Will Care for Orphans

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

I John 4:19 NLT
We love because he first loved us.

James 1:27 NLT

27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

God’s people are called to actively pursue meeting the needs of orphans.

Proverbs 19:17 NLT

If you help the poor, you are lending to the LORD–and he will repay you!

April 10, 2016 – The Commands of Christ: Pray Notes

Commands of Christ Banner

I. The Problem

For some, you are not Connected.

For others, you are Disconnected.

You are not plugged into the power source.

Connection is a heart issue.

Prayer is simply a Conversation with God.

Matthew 6:7 NLT

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.

II. The Power

When we pray:

When we pray – Our joy is full

John 16:24 ESV

24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

When we pray – Our peace is past any understanding

Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

We pray – so that we will not give into temptation

Matthew 26:40-41 NLT

40 Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter,“Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? 41 Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”

Prayer is at the same time the greatest and most unused resource that Christians have.

We pray to experience God’s power in our life.

James 5:17 MSG

The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.

III. The Plan

Connect with God every day this week.

Philippians 4:6 NLT

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything

The more I pray the luckier I get.

Come close to God, and God will come close to you.

I want you to EAT for 5 minutes.

At 6:48 AM or PM

E = Exalt Jesus

A =  Ask

T = Thank Jesus
