Leo Gibson. As a young boy, Leo Gibson dreamt and prayed about becoming a professional soccer player. He played professional soccer in his home county, Liberia/West Africa. A rare talent, Leo was drafted at the early age of seventeen. Leo showed incredible talent and discipline. When civil war destroyed his country and ultimately his dream, Leo was not deterred. He instead drew inspiration from his faith and belief that Jesus would grant him his heart’s desire. Leo found refuge in the United States in 2002. It was at this time he became dedicated to his craft, developing a strict training schedule and focusing on his studies. During this time he began his rewarding career as a professional soccer player in the United States. Leo’s passion is mentoring young athletes so that they are not only equipped with skills for the soccer field, but also for life. Leo now plays for the Missouri Comets and helped lead them to their first ever MISL Championship in 2014, and finishing the regular season (2014) as team and league leader with 76 points with 24 goals and 25 assists.

Ron Wheeler. Ron is a cartoonist by profession, and began drawing cartoons from the moment he could pick up a pencil. However, it wasn’t until college that he started to become successful with it. While there, he drew a comic strip called “Ralph” for the school paper. Ralph was a hit with the students. This led him on a long journey to pursue what truth really is, so he could then relate it through my comic strip. As years and experiences went on, he was surprised to learn at church that the Bible had a lot to say to him personally. He learned that God had always loved him, but my pride and selfishness kept him from experiencing that love. Eventually, it finally made sense to him. He had been trying to become a cartoonist in his own strength. His identity was wrapped around his abilities in this area. When it all came crumbling down, he only had one place to go- the Lord. The irony of all this is that the day after he accepted Christ, Ron got my first full-time job as a cartoonist. After Ron gave my life to the Lord, He opened doors so he could be used where He wanted him to be.
